How to Make a Great Impression in Your Next Job Interview

You’re ready for a job change or a step up to the next level in your career.

All that stands between you and your new role is the job interview.

You know you’re competent, motivated and a great fit for the new role. But how can you make this clear to the person hiring you? What are job hirers really looking for? And what are the things that make you someone they want to hire?

During my corporate career, whenever we were looking to hire someone, whether internally or externally, we used what we called the “Can Do, Will Do, Fit” hiring philosophy.

  1. Can do – are they competent for the role?
  2. Will do – are they motivated?
  3. Fit – are they a fit for the culture of the organization (and vice versa)?

It was our way of finding the best person for the position and we knew they were a good candidate when they matched each of these criteria.

No matter what job you’re going for, these three areas are at the core of hiring decisions.

All you need to do is make the right impression – one that highlights who you are at your very best.
