I'm often asked to provide status updates at the program and project level to senior leadership. However, it's a challenge to know what level of detail, format and wording. It seems like I can never get it right and leaders aren't always clear on what they want in terms of content detail. Can you provide insight into how to ask senior leadership for more clarity on what they want in a “high level one pager”. I don't like writing fluff for an update or getting into the weeds when I know the status report is just perfunctory.
